Air Resistance and Aerodynamics in Year 5!

Year 5 are learning about the importance of air resistance and aerodynamics in their Forces topic in Science!  We observed a crumpled ball of paper being thrown and compared it with our streamlined paper aeroplanes.  They flew much further and fell to the ground slower. Year 5's next experiment is to design a parachute for an egg astronaut!  The challenge is for it to fall to the ground slowly, and land intact!  Their parachutes are now in the design stage.   Mrs Blomeley

Walk to the North Pole

Broadbent Fold worked together to get 3961 points and successfully travel to the North Pole. Pupils and staff were tasked to try to complete 5 minutes of active travel every day where possible and every day they managed got a point for school. All children who managed to get at least 4 points were given a key ring as a prize. We had so many children complete their active travel every day that we had to raffle the top 3 prizes. Well done to everyone that took part!

Sporting Skills in Year 5!

Year 5 have started two new disciplines in PE this week: Gymnastics and Basketball!  As always, they have impressed us with their skills, behaviour and ability.  We are looking forward to seeing their progress as the weeks go by.  Mrs Blomeleyt

Spring Term - Why should the world's rainforests matter to all of us?

Welcome back to Spring Term in Year 5 where our topic will test the children's geographical knowledge of the world and make them aware of the impact of climate change.  In our topic "Why should the world's rainforests matter to all of us?", we will learn about Greta Thunberg and her efforts to save our planet, as well as researching endangered animals via the WWF.   Persuasive Writing is on the agenda in our English lessons, as well as reading the award winning novel "The Explorer" by Katherine Rundell, about four children who find themsel

Sharing Spy stories with Year 3!

During their Spy topic, Year 5 worked extremely hard to perfect their Spy Narratives, which they wrote with Year 3 as their audience.  They created spies, villains and suitable settings for their adventures to take place!  Children from Year 3 enjoyed the story telling and they had the opportunity afterwards to identify the characters from the drawings that Year 5 had drawn!  Thank you everyone for being such brilliant writers and listeners!  Mrs Blomeley

Year 5's Super Spy Day!

Year 5 enjoyed every minute of their Spy Day last Thursday!  They all looked amazing in their spy outfits and started the day with a secret passcode to enter into the Spy Headquarters.  ID cards with their fingerprints, practising spy moves and making their spy gadgets kept them busy!  They even had chance to crack a few codes and solve some clues to reveal who was the Secret Agent in Key Stage 2!  All of the class were brilliant spies and they finally revealed that the agent was none other than Mrs Keogh from Year 3, who delivered a reward for their hard work!  As planned

Year 5 say Thank you and Goodbye to Charles!

Year 5 said their final goodbyes yesterday to Charles from the Jason Robinson Foundation!  They have absolutely loved every minute of him teaching them since they have been in Year 5. Everyone has learnt new Rugby skills from Charles and they are going to miss him terribly.  He is such a fantastic teacher!  We presented a handmade card to him where all the class had written their personal thanks to him.  A sad day for us all. Mrs Blomeley
