Forest School

The children love their Forest School sesssions at Broadbent Fold!

Forest School Teacher: Mrs Anson

Forest School offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or a natural environment with trees.

The forest school ethos originated from Scandinavia, where outdoor living and learning is totally embedded in everyday life. It is strongly believed that nature and movement are a necessity for a child’s overall development and wellbeing. Forest school is an approach to learning outdoors, how to care and respect nature and the wider environment whilst looking after themselves and others.

We will use our school grounds to explore many different areas of the forest school activities such as tree and bug identification, den and shelter building, games and circle time. Children will be encouraged to explore and investigate whilst respecting nature.

Children learn best from first hand experiences and through this innovative approach, children will build a sense of independence, self-esteem and teamwork. They will be able to choose, initiate and drive their own learning. Learn to make judgements and assess risks associated with specific activities.
