Welcome to our Year 5 - Mrs Gao class teacher, Mrs Hallam and Mr Leach teaching support.
We have had a wonderful start to Year... more
I hope you have all had a fabulous October holiday break and the children have been well rested – they’ve really impressed me so far this week! Our topic for Autumn 2 is “Can you crack the code to become a spy?”. The class received a mysterious briefcase that had a coded message inside it. The message contained a secret mission. Who could have possibly delivered it?
This half term we will create a spy and a villain to write an adventure spy narrative and a news report article. We will also learn about European countries and the major capital cities, participate in Bikeability and enjoy a Spy Day!
Bikeability – This will be running on Monday 24th November and Tuesday 25th November.
Spy Day – Spy Day will be on Thursday 18th December. The children will arrive in school in their spy disguises. Have a rummage in the wardrobe and see what they already own. For example, they can wear sunglasses, a hat, or black clothing if they wish! It’s their disguise, so they can choose.
As part of their creative homework, they will need to think about what materials they need to create their spy gadget on Spy Day. Plan and gather up the resources needed, and bring them into school by Friday 19th December. What sorts of gadgets will the children create?
Finally, please find attached this half term’s medium-term plan and home learning grid for Autumn 2.
