Fruit kebabs

Year 1 had lots of fun in DT this week where they researched lots of different types of fruit and designed their own fruit kebabs using a repeated pattern. They then used their cutting skillls to chop the fruit and make their fruit kebabs. Their favourite bit was definitely eating them and some of them even tried some new fruit for the first time too!

Science Competition

Thank you everyone for your fantastic entries for the science competition, it was so difficult to choose the winners. Have a look at some of their fabulous creations.

World Book Day celebrations

Today in assembly we celebrated all of the hard work from World Book Day when each class shared some of their work on a class book or author. This was incredible to see and I was really impressed with all of the classes. It shows how much we love reading at Broadbent Fold.

We also rewarded our competition winners who designed a new book cover for their class text. Our runner-ups and winners all received a certificate and a prize. The winning entries will proudly be displayed in our library.

#Let Girls Play

We received a certificate for us taking part in #Letgirlsplay day. Look at our pictures across the blogs, lots to celebrate with equality in sport.

Year 1 at the Science Fair

Year 1 loved visiting the school Science fair. They got to guess the flavour of crisps by smelling them, see how many cubes could fit in a boat before it sank, make fizzy colours and so much more. They even got to pass electricity through everyone at the end to make the bar light up and learnt if they let go of hands and broke the circuit that it wouldn't light up anymore. A big thank you to the Year 4 pupils for running it; you were great and I'm sure you are Scientists in the making!

British Science Week

In 1994 British Science Week began - 30 years ago. Here at Broadbent Fold we are teaching our future inventors and scientists! Keep an eye on the blog for our workshops, experiments, awe and wonder!

#Letgirlsplay day

What a great day seeing so many girls playing football! Some Year 5 and 6 pupils went to Rayner Stephens to take part in a girls football festival while others played football at breaks and lunchtime. Our amazing Game Changers were awarded their well deserved badges for their dedication to girls football too.

World Book Day

Year 1 had a fantastic time today for Wolrd Book Day. They loved dressing up as characters from their favourite books - can you guess what any of them are? We also enjoyed sharing our favourite books with each other.
