Welcome to Year 1 2025-2026
Miss Lewis is the Class Teacher and Mrs Anson is the Teaching Assistant across Key Stage One.
Here is some information you may find useful:
Creative home learning is set at the beginning of every half term. The creative home learning grid is uploaded onto the school blog, Seesaw and a paper copy (stuck into your child's blue home learning book) will be sent home. The home learning activities are to be completed and uploaded to Seesaw at your own leisure or presented in your child’s home learning book. This term (Autumn term 1), your child will be given phonics home learning to complete throughout the half term, this will be stuck in their reading diary. Additional home learning may be given / set which is to reinforce and consolidate learning that has been taught in school. Home learning may be differentiated to your child’s ability based on ongoing formative and summative assessments. Please ensure that creative home learning is uploaded by the deadline date which is pinned to the top of our class Seesaw.
Reading books (Phonics books which contain a number e.g. 3.2 and colour book banded books) and reading records will be monitored each week so please ensure they are brought to school every day. We aim for your child to read 1-1 with an adult at least once a week.
PE will take place every Thursday and Friday afternoon. For those children who are not currently wearing active uniform: Please ensure your child has a clearly labelled PE kit for indoor (pumps to be worn for dance and gymnastics) and trainers to be worn for outdoor lessons. All clothing and footwear must be labelled. The children will bring home their PE every Friday evening for washing and this will need to be returned every Monday. For those children who are wearing active uniform: Please ensure your child has a pair of pumps for PE in school at all times (pumps to be worn for dance and gymnastics).
Please ensure your child has a clearly labelled 'water' bottle in school daily, sun-cream and a sun hat (weather dependant).
