Welcome to Year 1 2025-2026
Miss Lewis is the Class Teacher and Ms Myatt is the Teaching Assistant across Key Stage One.
Here is some information you may find useful:
Creative home learning is set at the beginning of every half term. The creative home learning grid is uploaded onto the school blog, Seesaw and a paper copy (stuck into your child's blue home learning book) will be sent home. The home learning activities are to be completed and uploaded to Seesaw at your own leisure or presented in your child’s home learning book. This term (Spring term 2), your child will continue to learn their individual phonics sounds which were given in ther reading diary in Spring term 1. Additional home learning may be given / set which is to reinforce and consolidate learning that has been taught in school. Home learning may be differentiated according to your child’s ability based on ongoing formative and summative assessments. Please ensure that creative home learning is uploaded by the deadline date which is pinned to the top of our class Seesaw.
Please use Mathletics and WRM 1 minute maths at your own leisure.
Reading books (Phonics books which contain a number e.g. 3.2 and colour book banded books) and reading records will be monitored each week so please ensure they are brought to school every day. Your child must read their reading books at least 3 times to develop their reading fluency and comprehension. We aim for your child to read 1-1 with an adult at least once a week.
PE will take place every Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Properly fitting black pumps are required for dance and gymnastics lessons. If pupils do not have plimsolls, then they will be asked to complete these lessons in bare feet, unless a medical condition prevents them from doing so. Please ensure your child's pumps are clearly labelled. Your child's pumps will stay in school throughout the year. Please see our PE policy and long term plan for more information:https://www.broadbentfold.tameside.sch.uk/sites/www.broadbentfold.tameside.sch.uk/files/PE%20Policy%20October%202024.pdf
Please ensure your child has a clearly labelled 'water' bottle in school daily, a pair of spare socks and underwear in their bag, a coat (hat and gloves if preferred), sun-cream and a sun hat (weather dependant).
If you wish to contact us, you can message me through our class Seesaw, request a telephone / face to face consultation via the main office or email me via admin@broadbentfold.tameside.sch.uk or 0161-303-9411.
