Zoom with South Pole Explorer

Year 1 were lucky enough to have a Zoom call with Mr Mainprize (Miss Mainprize's uncle) who has completed a South Pole expedition with the RAF. Year 1 compared this to what they had learnt about Captain Scott's expedition and asked lots of fantastic questions to further their understanding. Well done everyone!

Year 1 trip to Eureka

Year 1 had a fabulous time at Eureka. They learnt all about how the different parts of their bodies work, attended a show all about their senses and discovered how to do different jobs.

House Points Winners

Congratulations to Team Sapphire who have won the House Cup. They will receive non-uniform on Friday 14th June. This team scored a huge 1,464 points. Well done!

Silver Medal Winners!

Our year 5 and 6 cricket team took part in a tournament yesterday against 8 other Tameside Primary Schools at Hyde Cricket ground. They won their round of matches and made it to the final against Arles. We did outstanding fielding, batting and team work. I was so proud to support and observe our young people going for gold! We came away with the silver medal, which we are so proud of. Next our year 3 and 4 pupils will take the challenge and I cannot wait to see how they do. Our trophy will being placed in our ever-growing cabinet.

Visit from GB Sprinter

Year 1 loved their visit from GB sprinter Andy Robertson today as part of career's week. They learnt all about Andy's job as an athlete and were shocked to hear that he can only eat chocolate once a month! A big thank you to Andy for answering all of our questions and inspiring us to be future athletes.

Start Small, Dream Big Primary Pilot.

We are delighted that our school has been selected to take part in an exciting pilot programme to improve careers education in primary schools across England. This pilot programme is being run by your local Careers Hub, funded by The Careers & Enterprise Company and evaluated in partnership with ImpactEd Evaluation. ImpactEd Evaluation is an independent evaluator that supports high-quality monitoring and evaluation in schools.

Target Games

Year 1 loved using cricket bats and rackets for the time today in their targets games lesson. They practised hitting the ball at a target before we added fielders in to make it more challenging. Well done everyone!
