Autumn 2 Year 6

Autumn 2 Year 6

I do hope you've all had a fabulous October holiday, and the children are raring to get cracking for our second term in Year 6. This half term will continue to immerse the children in the expectations of Year 6. I will be explicit in how we can raise standards to ensure the children know what they need to do this year to be secondary school ready. These standards will be interwoven into our work in our second topic of the year- Did we come from apes? Here we will explore evolution, learn about Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace and investigate our heritage. Here are a few important dates for this half term

  • Fire brigade 3rd Nov from 2pm
  • Chocolate workshop 4th Nov pm
  • Sean Bostock Mon 10th Nov pm
  • Poetry Together event hosted by Gyles Brandreth at Aviva Studios on Friday 14th November 10am - 2.30pm.
  • Assessment weeks 24th Nov

Our PE days will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays next half term. If at any time you have any questions, worries, or concerns, do not hesitate to contact: admin@broadbentfold.tameside.sch.uk Please find attached the Medium-Term Plan and Home Learning Grid for Autumn 2.  Our creative homework this term is to make an island to support our English writing and to find out about your family traits and where they originated from. So ...can you roll your tongue? Are your hair and eyes the same colour as your siblings? Parents? Do you have dimples? If so, who else does? Delve into your family and find out why you look like you do.
