Tag rugby with the Jason Robinson Foundation

Year 4 have been loving their tag rugby sessions with Charles. This week they were working on passing backwards, their tagging skills and started looking at strategies for attacking and defending. They learnt the importance of both timing and teamwork. Well done Year 4!

Roman trip to the Grosvenor Museum in Chester

Year 4 loved their trip to the Grosvenor Museum in Chester!

Their day started with meeting a Roman Centurion and marching to the amphitheatre chanting "Sin, sin, sun, dex, sin!", repeatedly. When we arrived at the amphitheatre, we worked together to make different attacking and defending battle formations and tried to get into position in 2 seconds.

After, we returned to the museum to look around and also took part in a Roman workshop. One pupil was lucky enough to be dressed up in the Roman soldier armour and helmet!

Roman Invasion Re-enactment

As part of our History and English lessons, we did a Roman invasion re-enactment on the school playground. We practised marching carrying our rucksacks (heavy weapons that weigh 20kg) chanting "Dex, Sin!", just like the Romans did. We also tried to make different battle formations and took it in turn to be the Centurion leading drills for our century. Finally, we invaded a Celtic village where we learnt the importance of working together.

We used this activity to help us to write diary entries as Roman soldiers - just wait until you see the finished products!

Tech in Space Live Lesson

This afternoon, Year 4 took part in a live lesson on 'Tech in space' where they learnt lots about how technology is used in space and how it has advanced over the years. They also learnt about possible careers in technology and linked to space.

Front Row Music

John from Front Row Music came in to school today for an assembly. The children were amazed at how simple it was play the guitar and were shown how to play chords, melodies and sang along to many songs. If you're interested in taking ukukele or guitar lessons with Drew on Fridays, please ask at the school office for details.

New Library!

The furniture for our new library has arrived and it looks so smart. Thank you for your fund raising contributions to help us make this area colourful and enticing for our pupils. The new texts look great and it inspires our pupils to use the library and explore books.
