Year 6 Spring 1 2026
I do hope you've had a fabulous Christmas holiday, and the children are eager to get back to school. The children have been working ever so hard last term, and I hope they're buzzing to get started on our Viking topic. This term, we will be fine-tuning the children's grammatical terminology to support them in their writing at the Year 6 standard. In history, they will be delving back in time to the Vikings and taking a closer look at Ivor the Boneless and Edward the Confessor. In science, the children will be finding out about their circulatory system and visiting a science lab to dissect a heart. PE days have now changed. We now have PE on Monday and Wednesday, where the children will be learning basketball and volleyball skills. Please find attached the MTP for Spring 1, for this half term's focus. Homework
- Comprehension books will be sent home on Tuesday, the 6th. The children need to complete White Fang for Thursday, 8th January, please.
- Arithmetic books will be sent home on Tuesday, the 6th January. Please spend some time every week to complete a double-spread page. These books can come into school on Mondays to be marked and then returned home.
- Creative homework this half term to research and create a Viking Longship. The submission date is Monday, 2nd February 2026.
