Space week

Space week

As part of our exciting Space Week celebrations, Year 1 worked together in teams to create the planets using colourful chalk! The children shared ideas, discussed the different colours and shapes of the planets, and worked collaboratively to bring our solar system to life. They used their creativity and imagination to create fantastic planet artwork, transforming our outdoor space into a colourful journey through space. This activity was a wonderful opportunity to develop the children’s teamwork and communication skills. They practised listening to one another, sharing resources, taking turns and working together towards a shared goal. Using chalk also helped to strengthen the children’s fine motor skills as they gripped the chalk, controlled their movements and made marks, shapes and patterns. These skills are important for developing pencil control and preparing children for writing. Most importantly, the children had lots of fun learning through hands-on exploration!
