The children have made a fantastic start to Year 1 and have been settling into their new routines beautifully. We have continued to support the transition through continuous provision, table-top activities and short bursts of whole-class learning. We been strengthening our reading behaviours and phonics knowledge through stories, Phonics Play and a range of practical activities. In maths, we have been exploring place value, addition, number formation and shape, alongside using White Rose 1 Minute Maths app to develop our fluency. The children have also been practising letter formation and fine motor skills, using activities such as Hairy Letters and Letter-Join on the iPads. Our creative areas have been busy too, with lots of art, construction, designing and building, giving the children opportunities to use their imagination, problem-solve and work collaboratively. It has been wonderful to see the children growing in confidence, independence and enthusiasm as they begin their Year 1 journey
