World Book Day - Buddy Reading
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, the children enjoyed a special reading session with their Year 6 buddy readers. Some of the children brought a favourite book from home to share with their buddy, talking about why they like the story and what makes it special to them. The Year 6 children then shared one of their own favourite books and read aloud to their reading buddy. Listening to stories being read aloud helps children to develop their language and vocabulary, imagination, and understanding of stories. It also helps to build confidence and a love of reading, while giving children the opportunity to enjoy books together.
