Today Year 6 presented an assembly about different women and girls who have made a great impact in the world of science. We discussed how primatologist Dr Jane Goodall has worked tirelessy to rehome chimpanzees who have lost their habitats for various reasons. We explored how Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie discovered new elements called radium and radioactivity. Her reasearch is used to help people with cancer. Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock runs her own company, engaging and inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers- you may recognise her from BBC's program 'Star at Night'. Finally we were stunned that Kiara Nirghin won a Google competition at the age of 16 with her super absorbent polymer (SAP) invention that is used to help countries facing terrible droughts.
