Basketball in Year 6

Year 6 are learning how to play basketball. This week they had to practise their passing skills to improve their accuracy and then competed in small sided games.

Anti-bullying Week

Following on from the assembly this morning, Year 6 have been reading poems to identify aspects of bullying. They really empathised with the character Samantha Jayne and came up with some ways to support a child like her, if they were in our class. I'm highly impressed by their mature attitude and their odd socks today too.

Reading Ambassador meeting with Tameside Library

Today our Reading Ambassadors had their first meeting with Lisa from Tameside Library. First they shared all of the posters that were entered into the competition- thank you to members of Year 5 and Year 2 for your poster entries. Please see their posters attached. Then they had a book quiz all about the library and different children's fiction and authors. Then we were set our next reading mission- details will be shared very soon...

Odd Socks Day

We celebrate our differences today with Odd Socks Day 2024 - part of our Anti-bullying themes this week.

Magistrates Visit in Year 6

Sean from The Greater Manchester Magistrates' Association came to visit today. The children were amazed to find out about the law and how Sean keeps them safe every single day. They learnt about how to keep themselves safe, knife crime and they even used Millie as a volunteer in a Mock Trial in the classroom. What a brilliant activity to start our Anti-bullying week.
