Explorify...

Well done to those who guessed correctly today- it was a starfish!

Did you know that a starfish is not actually a fish and it cannot swim? It is an echinoderm which uses its suckers to crawl across the ocean floor.

All of a melt in Year 4

Year 4 have been looking at how to change the state of certain objects. Today they got the opportunity to test which water temperature made chocolate melt the quickest. They ensured they had the correct equipment and that the test was fair by only changing the water temperature in each test. Of course, their predictions were correct and they had lots of fun observing the time taken for the chocolate to melt and recording their findings.

Book Look

Thank you for parents and carers who attended our book look. It was very successful and really nice to see faces in school again.

Super Fit Year 4

An imprompt Freddie Fit session kept Year 4 on their toes today. There are some super fit children in class. Well done Year 4.

Sea Fever

Year 4 were magnificent when they recited Sea Fever by John Masefield in assembly today. They made me very proud with their loud, clear voices and using the mind map to remember the verses of the poem. Brilliant work Year 4.

Excellence in Year 4

Congratulations to Jake and Aoife for getting the Good to be Green pencils today- well done. The class certificates went to Holly for her fabulous hard work and Oliver, for his diligence in his work. Well done to all of Year 4 for their brilliant behaviour on our school trip this week too.

Our Y4 Rivers Trip

Year 4 set off today on our geography field trip to Portland Basin to discover the waterways. The children explored the differences between the River Tame and the Ashton canal and were fascinated to learn about the use of the canal and spot the differences between the two.  In the afternoon, the class took on a group challenge to design and make a waterwheel. These were amazing, The children were exceptionally well behaved and learnt so much; they made me very proud.

Year 6 Arts Award

Today we celebrated our Arts Award achievement. Our year 6 pupils received their Arts Award certificate linked to working with an artist in school around the topic of ‘Keen to be Green’. Where we had a focus on our environment and clean air.

Madam Mayor's Visit to Year 4

Year 4 had the privilege to attend the Year 6 Art's Award celebration assembly today. It was lovely to see them get their awards. Madam Mayor then took a look around school and we were able to ask her some questions. Did you know that her favourite colour is yellow and her chain of office is valued at £100,000?
