Design Technology in Year 3

Design Technology in Year 3.

Children first learnt in Geography about Earthquakes, they planned and designed how to make an earthquake proof building.The designs were amazing hardly any fell apart! 

Maybe future engineers could be the ideal job for Year 3.


Dodgeball skills

Year 3 have started the year very energetically with learning dodgeball skills.

Throughout their PE lessons they have been learning how to successfully dodge the ball. They are improving their throwing and passing skills.

 


Earthquakes

Year 3 have been learning about Earthquakes and the techonic plates. They've learnt that earthquakes are measured using a mercalli scale.


Sports Quiz Winners

Last half term, pupils in KS2 took part in a sports quiz against other primary schools in Tameside. They worked in teams of 4 and aimed to get as many points as possible. A team of pupils in Year 6 called Xmas Sports won first place with a score of 62 points - 2 points clear of the runners up. We also had a team from Year 3 finishing 10th with 43 points, another team from Year 6 finishing 12th with 40 points and a team called 'The Goats' finishing in 13th with 39 points. Well done to everyone who took part!


Year 3 Spring 1 term

An explosive theme to Year 3's learning this half term.

We have an exciting term ahead with learning about earthquakes and making earthquake proof buildings. Children will also learn about Volcanoes.  Our class text is Pebble in My Pocket which really inspires our readers.

Geography, Design Technology skills will really be improved, we can't wait!


Awards

Well done to these children for receiving a 99% and 100% attendance award and a handwriting club award. 


Celebrating Chanukah

Year 3 enjoyed listening to a Zoom about how Jews celebrate an important festival. They listened to the story of Chanukah and in class we looked at the special Jewish objects.

Tameside Library are running a Winter Mini Challenge -perfect for keeping children reading during the Christmas holidays! The challenge is all online so it’s easy for children to sign up and read any books they have at home as well as borrowed from the library, and library ebooks and euadiobooks from Borrowbox count for the challenge too!
