Amazing Art

This week we've been practising our drawing skills. First we learnt how to use sketching pencils for shading to show shadows and create 3D effect. We practised drawing 3D shapes as well as scraws and bolts. Today we followed a tutorial to draw The Iron Man. We think you agree that our drawings look amazing!

Next week we will turn our drawings into animation.

Year 3 Superstars

We have started this half term with lots of certificates. This morning in the assembly, Year 3 children received the Headteacher's Awards for fantastic work and outstanding behaviour. There were Good to be Green pencils given for staying in the green all week. Some children were also awarded their Bronze and Silver badges. What a great start to the new half term!

World Book Day events 2022

To celebrate World Book Day today our Y6 Librarians hosted a competition during lunchtime where children across the school had to guess the title of a book by looking at a small picture clue from the front cover. The girls were really helpful organising this and gave up their lunch time to work with the children to complete their entries. Well done ladies!

The winners will be announced soon....

KS2 also had the opportunity to take part in a virtual assembly with poet Michael Rosen. Some of our favourite poems were 'Chocolate Cake' and 'Don't breathe'

Matt Goodfellow Visit 2022

We were all certianly inspired by poet Matt this week. He performed his poems so well with humour and spirit and there was lots of laughter in both the KS1 and KS2 assemblies this week.

All classes had the amazing opportunity to create poems with Matt in their class workshops too. Year 6 really enjoyed this and were keen to share their finished poems with him at the end of the sessions.

I hope those who bought a copy of his book 'Bright Bursts of Colour' have enjoyed reading it.

Book Day

Year 3 have enjoyed dressing up as part of book day.

We can't wait to see the book themed inspired home learning projects, we've already had some children share theirs.

Year 3 Spring 2 information

This half term our topic is: Who is the Iron Man? The children will be reading the gripping story of the iron giant, The Iron Man, and will continue to develop their comprehension skills by answering reading gem questions. They will explore and learn about features of persuasive texts. The children will design and make a product with mechanical components that will be advertised using persuasive vocabulary.

Please look at the attached overview of what will be covered in class.

Afternoon Tea with Mrs P!

Well done to the children who have been green this half term. I am very proud of you all. One child from each class joined me for afternoon tea to celebrate their hard work.

Keep this effort up! It is good to be green.
