World Book Day in Y3

After reading with Nursery we joined in with the BBC Live World Book Day lesson.

In class we have made character top trumps which we can play at wet playtimes. We have also prepared some character speeches. Tomorrow we will take part in the Ultimate Character Champion Battle. We will practise our oracy skills to deliver our speeches to the class. We will have a panel of year 5 judges who will choose out ultimate champion. I can't wait to see who wins.

Reading with nursery

Year 3 loved sharing books with Nursery today. They were super role models sharing their favourite books together. What a lovely way to start World Book Day! Thank you Nursery.

Happy World Book Day

We have started World Book Day with a very cool assembly today. Year 6 shared a performance poem which could be read both ways called a palindrome. This had a strong message about refugees. Then Mrs Lewis shared her favourite story 'The wonky donkey' rapped by MC Grammar. We really enjoyed this so if you want to learn any more songs being sang by MC Grammar have a look on the internet. Then Miss Lewis shared a poem she has created all about our fabulous school.

Crumble Coding

Year 3 have had a wonderful time at their Crumble Coding workshop today. We have looked at the components of the crumble kit. They have used their electricity skills to set the kit up correctly. They have then used coding to make their buggies move in various ways.

Superstars

Well done to all of our superstars this week.

I am very proud that we won the Sport's Trophy this week too.

Ash Randall visit

Today, we were lucky enough to have a visit from freestyle footballer Ash Randall. He showed us lots of his amazing skills and we couldn't wait to have a go at break and lunch time ourselves. We were impressed to find out that Ash has 25 world records for his freestyle football skills and also has an award for having over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. He said the main things for becoming a great freestyle footballer are determination, perseverance, passion and honesty - some of our sporting values!

Spring 2 Topic Information 'Does the world need the iron man?'

Welcome back to Spring 2. This half term we will explore the Ted Hughes text 'The iron man' about bravery, acceptance and prejudice. Our learning all links to the text so please read the topic information attached. We have a Crumble Coding workshop on 3rd March. Please ensure that this is paid for in the first week back. We will also take part in events for World Book Day and British Science Week. See attached the new Home Learning Grid which children should complete over the next six weeks.

Story time

Year 3 have had a wonderful time today sharing their stories from English with Year 1 and Year 2. Their oracy skills shone Reading with emphasis and making their stories about natural disasters exciting.

Well done!
