Gold Food4Life

I am pleased to be able to announce that we have achieved our 'Gold' Food4Life Schools award.

I appreciate the time and effort you as parents and pupils and staff have put into ensuring compliance with the School Food Standards as well as creating a positive healthy lifestyle atmosphere. Huge congratulations on achieving the ‘GOLD’ level of the award!

Bridge Blunder in Year 3

Year 3 children worked cooperatively to design and build a bridge as part of British Science Week. This activity was designed to get children thinking about connections between weights, forces and measures. Children clearly explained how to make a fair test, they spoke about the strength of materials and how to make a sturdy bridge using only 5 pieces of paper. This investigating really did test the science skills in Year 3.

International Womens Day

We are very proud that Evie was featured in the international womens day poster for basketball in Tameside. What a great photo! Thank you for sharing this with us!

Design Technology in Year 3

The Iron man needed to be rescued. Year 3 learnt about pulleys and how to move a load. Children researched cranes then designed their own crane to rescue that could rescue the iron man. In groups their decided on a final design and selected the materials they needed.

Working cooperatively children made a crane and tested whether the Iron man could be rescued. Fabulous design technology skills shown In Year 3.

#letgirlsplay

Our Game Changers led the assembly this morning where they explained what their role was in school and how they got into football; they also discussed how equal access is wanted in girls football by 2024. I cannot wait to see how they continue to inspire girls at Broadbent Fold to take part in football.Tomorrow (8th March) is #letgirlsplay day where lots of girls football tournaments will be run throughout the day. We cannot wait!

Let Girls Play

We want girls to play football!

It’s time to take a stand, to make a difference.

Girls are an unstoppable force for good if they’re given the chance. The chance to play football.

They want to play in the school curriculum, at breaktime, after school, at local clubs – wherever, whenever they want. No barriers, no stereotypes. Let Girls Play.

World Book Day competition winners

The Reading Ambassadors met with me today to choose winners of our 'top hat' design competition. This was very difficult because the standard was so high throughout school. Our winning top hats have been displayed in the KS2 Library.

Our winners are Nursery- Zachary, Reception- Vanessa, Y1- Tobias, Y2- Noah, Y3- Chloe, Y4- Ted, Y5- Oliver and Y6- Mia.

Thank you to everybody who entered the competition.

British Science Week Competition 2023

Soon we will be taking part in British Science Week and we have lots of fun learning opportunities planned throughout school. The theme this year is 'connections.'

What do you know about connections in science? How are body parts connected? How is the world built on connections? How are all animals connected? How is the solar system connected to the sun?   Is there someone you have connected with who has inspired or helped you? This could be a famous scientist!

Year 3 Stars of the week

A big well done to the children who received certificates today. We had Head Teacher's Awards for great work in PE and Georgrphy as well as two Good to be Green lottery winners and a Silver Award.
