Sports Week

Welcome to our sports week, which fits in perfectly with many sporting events - Euros, T20 cricket, Tour de France and the Olympics! We have different activities planned for each day including: Euro tournaments, paralympic games, rugby and glow in the dark dodge ball. Sports day is on Wednesday. Hoping for good weather! Healthy minds and healthy bodies.

Pokémon Girls Football Qualifiers

Last week our Year 4 and 5 girls football team took part in the Pokémon football qualifiers against St Mary's and Gee Cross Holy Trinity Primary School. It was the first time they had played together but they showed great teamwork and managed to score 2 goals and come 2nd in their group! A special well done to player of the match, Matilda, for her fantastic goal keeping skills throughout the games. Well done girls!

Year 3 and 4 glow dodgeball

Our Year 3 and 4 pupils loved taking part in the glow dodgeball festival tonight against other schools in Tameside. It was lovely to see so many pupils representing school for the first time and having so much fun! Great job everyone!

Disney club

Lots of fun was had at the Disney Shooting Stars club tonight with Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We played lots of games focusing on our fundamental movement skills whilst we pretended to be Mufasa, Simba, Nala, Zazu and Scar. We also practised our dribbling skills, throwing and catching. Finally we did a relay in teams to collect cones and then created a picture of Simba with them. Thank you to the Game Changers who helped to deliver the session and also judged the best Simba.

Disney Shooting Stars Club

The girls have loved the first 2 weeks of the Disney Shooting Stars club. They were challenged last week to use junk modelling to make an animal from Lion King or to make some lion ears to wear for this week's session. Can you guess any of the animals they made? Fantastic work everyone!

Basketball competition

Some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a basketball competition at Astley tonight playing games again Arlies, Cannon Burrows, St John's, Inspire and Our Lady's. They really improved as a team thorough the matches and definitely played their best games last. They showed brilliant dribbling, passing and shooting skills. Well done everyone!

Year 3 and 4 Futsal competition

Our Year 3 and 4 girls were very excited to take part in the futsal competition last week. They played games against Manchester Road, Yew Tree, Oakfield and Greenside. A special well done to Matilda and Chloe who got medals for being players of the tournament. The girls loved taking part and were all keen to play some more futsal in the future. Also a big thank you to all the families that came down to support and for making a big sign to cheer on the girls.

Futsal competition

Some of our Year 5 and 6 girls took part in a futsal festival. It was many of the girls first time playing futsal and we learnt how it was different to playing football. We had lots of fun and were very excited to be the first ones to wear the new kit! We played games against Yew Tree, Manchester Road, Oasis, Greenside and Oakfield. A special well done to Evie who was the player of the festival for our school. Great job girls, well done!
