Silver Medal Winners!

Our year 5 and 6 cricket team took part in a tournament yesterday against 8 other Tameside Primary Schools at Hyde Cricket ground. They won their round of matches and made it to the final against Arles. We did outstanding fielding, batting and team work. I was so proud to support and observe our young people going for gold! We came away with the silver medal, which we are so proud of. Next our year 3 and 4 pupils will take the challenge and I cannot wait to see how they do. Our trophy will being placed in our ever-growing cabinet.

Well done Year 6 and good luck!

All of Year 6 won the Headteacher's Award today for their incredible hard work in preparation for their SATs next week. You arte all so ready and we wish you every luck!

Luca also won the Headteacher's Award for his super coding skills.

Well done to our Good to be Green winners Ruby and Ethan.

Also well done to our Gold Award winners this week.

Coding in Y6

We have been using Purple Mash coding this half term. Today we have used flow charts to help us debug certain items in a simulation game. We then had to program some other items including a TV, robot and car. Many children made the car move when a remote control was clicked. Others programmed the TV to turn on a Minecraft game.

Mini marathon

Year 6 have been taking part in the mini marathon this half term in which they need to run 2.6 miles over a certain amount of time.

Well done Year 6!

Sing!

Our focus this half term is to create music to accompany a short film about a race.

We will be using clips from the 1981 film "Chariots of Fire" as a basis and inspiration.

Superstars

Congratulations to all of the children who are still persevering and attending the revisions sessions each morning! We only have 4 more to go! Yipee!

Well done this week to Jake and Summer. Summer demonstrated some fabulous skills in rounders this week. Jake is working so hard in his lessons and his enthusiasm is brilliant.

Congratulations to Holly and Lucy for winning the Good to be Green Award.

Well done oliver for getting your Gold Award!

Careers Week presentations

We have completed a lot of research this week about different careers in year 6 and have been lucky to have so many visitors in to share their experiences with us. Yesterday we made posters about different careers which we shared in front of the rest of the class.

I hope we have inspired you to think about your different options in the future!

Careers Week- the police

Today GMP visited Year 6 to discuss what it is like to have a career in the police. They discussed the training which is needed before police officers are allowed on duty. They talked about how important it is in all careers for people not to have a criminal record. They shared with us what type of roles they work in and what equipment they carry. The class enjoyed arresting me and putting me handcuffs.

I hope we have inspired some of you to think about a career in the police.
