Yesterday, our Reading Ambassadors attended a celebration of themselves and their hard work this year promoting reading in our school.
We went to Dukinfield Town Hall and received certificates and some other goodies.
I was very proud of them all!
Our KS2 cheerleading team took part in Cheer Fest today where they came 4th in Tameside. Feedback from the judges said we had a fierce chant, good technique on elite jumps and that they enjoyed our routine! Well done Firecrackers!

Today Year 6 have used their micro:bits as wearable travel trackers to record and analyse their activity during break times. All of the data we have recorded will be sent off for the BBC playground survey.
Myself, Sam- Head Boy and Ruby- Head Girl have been reading all the new year 6 application forms. We received a huge amount of applications for the roles of Head Girl, Head Boy and Prefect - it was so tough to decide. We shall announce the results on Thursday 25th July in our celebration assembly. Every application was outstanding, well done to our current year 5.
A huge well done to our year 6s and their achievements this year. I am a very proud Headteacher and know there has been a great amount of work put in everyday. Keep shining year 6!

To continue with our micro:bit playground survey, today we coded the micro:bits to calculate the average step distance multiplied by the number of steps to work out the area of different parts of our playground. We will then add all of these compound areas together to give us a combined area in squared meters. The children are really enjoying their coding.

Today we watched an assembly about the upcoming olympics with guest speaker paralympian Stef Reid who is a professional long jumper. We watched a clip of how incredible she is at jumping wearing her blade because her foot was amputated as a child. She was very inspiring and I think the class are looking forward to watching the olympics over the summer.
I am so impressed with how good our final Handwriting Display looks with beautifully presented work from every class.

Well done to Ruby, Lucy and Sam for winning a Merit today for being a volunteer leader during history yesterday. They each led groups confidently to explore Mayan life.

Holly is our final year 6 winner for the Handwriting Award this term.

We worked around a carousel of activities to explore a different aspect of Mayan life today. We looked at Mayan hieroglyphs and created our own logograms. We investigated the Mayan number system to decode different numbers. Finally we created our own complex Mayan calendars and used them to find our 'Mayan' date of births. Thank you to my volunteer leaders Ruby, Sam and Lucy.
