Year 5 and 6 Dodgeball Competition

Our Year 5 and 6's showed great skill in the dodgeball competition tonight with our A team coming top of their group and progressing to the Tameside finals. Our B team showed great teamwork and really improved throughout their matches - they caught lots of people out and showed great dodging skills. Great job everyone!

Pokémon County Football Championships

Our Year 5 and 6 boys football team were the runners up in the Greater Manchester county championships. All the boys played really well but were beaten in the final by North Cheshire Jewish Primary School in a well fought game. The boys not only were a credit to our school but also represented Tameside well. We are so proud of you for making the final boys, well done!

Maths Mastery in Year 5!

Year 5 have been working so hard to tackle the tricky concept of Fractions lately!  It has been said that the only way to demonstrate you have mastered an idea is to be able to explain and teach it to someone else.  This week we have been lucky to have some 'extra' teachers in class!  They have chosen some of the trickier White Rose Maths questions and confidently explained how to arrive at the answers!  They were amazing and they all clearly helped others to understand some of the different aspects of Fractions!  Mrs Blomeley

Drama in the Rainforest!

Today, the children re-enacted the exciting scene from "The Explorer", where the characters discovered a pineapple AND a sloth!  They named the sloth Abacaxi, which we also discovered means "pineapple" in Portugese.  The children loved showing off their acting skills and did an amazing job!  We have some budding thespians in Year 5!  Mrs Blomeley

Fruits of the Forest in Year 5!

Year 5 imagined they were characters from our class text "The Explorer" today!  They tasted a variety of fruits that they might have to eat if they were trapped in the Rainforest, left to their own devices!  Their overall favourite was pineapple, followed by Sharon fruit, which they described as "sweet as popcorcm".  Their least favourite fruit were the figs!  A big thank you to Mrs Hallam who helped to cut and slice the fruit for us all to share!  Mrs Blomeley

Contemporary dance club

The girls have been working really hard in contemporary dance club ready for their showcase for parents on Friday 7th February. We can't wait for you to see the finished performance!

Thank you to Giancarlo

We are very proud of this young man in year 3. Recently he ran the Junior Heaton Park Run to raise money for the local food bank. He raised £160 and ran exceptionally well!!

Well done Giancarlo!!

Air Resistance and Aerodynamics in Year 5!

Year 5 are learning about the importance of air resistance and aerodynamics in their Forces topic in Science!  We observed a crumpled ball of paper being thrown and compared it with our streamlined paper aeroplanes.  They flew much further and fell to the ground slower. Year 5's next experiment is to design a parachute for an egg astronaut!  The challenge is for it to fall to the ground slowly, and land intact!  Their parachutes are now in the design stage.   Mrs Blomeley
