Author Spotlight

The Reading Ambassadors set the whole school a challenge to research a famous author to share in assembly. Today each class shared some facts about their chosen authors including Michael Rosen, Francesca Simon, Tom Fletcher, Jeff Kinney, Katherine Rundell and Tony Bradman.

Thank you for sharing your facts and please look out for these author books in our library.

Book look in Year 5!

A big thank you to the parents who came to Year 5 tonight to look at their child’s books.  The children were very keen to show off the work they have produced so far in Year 5, and rightly so!  Parents enjoyed seeing their work and the children should be very proud!  Mrs Blomeley

Arguments in Year 5!

Year 5’s new writing genre is Balanced Arguments!  They started the genre with a discussion, related to their upcoming Class Compliments afternoon.  The class had a split decision as to whether they should wear pyjamas or not for their well-earned treat?  Arguments for both sides were put forward, with some excellent points of view.  The question was, did they manage to persuade anyone to change their minds?  Mrs Blomeley

Awards in Year 5 w/e 24.1.25

Year 5 have had a brilliant week in general and they have received so many awards!  Headteacher's awards were given for amazing work in Maths and for being a helpful member of the class!  Good to be Green awards were given for following our school values of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, as well as Bronze awards for achieving 100 star points!  Brilliant work on Mathletics led to a variety of certificates and, finally, our footballers were the runners up in the Greater Manchester County Championships!  We are extremely proud of them all!  Mrs Blomeley

Perfect Parachutes!

To complete their Science topic on Forces, Year 5 had a challenge to use air resistance to create a parachute that could land their "egg" astronaut safely, in the slowest possible time!  The children followed their own designs, with a few adaptations, and tried to use materials that would give their parachutes the greatest air resistance.  After our testing, the children unwrapped their carefully covered eggs, to reveal whether they had landed intact!  Brilliant scientific work Year 5!  And great fun too!  Mrs Blomeley
