Year 3 and 4 Girls’ Futsal

A big well done to the Year 3 and 4 girls for competing in a futsal festival this evening. It was many of the girls first time representing school and although some were a little nervous at the start, their confidence really increased throughout the tournament. The girls showed fantastic teamwork and cheered each other one with lots of chanting and singing. Thank you to our Year 6 Game Changers who also came along this evening and helped to coach the futsal teams.

Amazing job girls!

No pens day

Wednesday was all about us putting our pens down, talking, listening and finding different ways to communicate and learn.

Year 4 had great fun using various "pen free" skills.

Equal Access Award

On Friday, we were awarded the Equal Access Award by the FA for ensuring our school has the same opportunities for boys and girls in football. Well done to Greenside and Manchester Road who also picked up the same award.

String telephones

On Friday, we learnt all about how Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. We then created our own string telephones to investigate whether a longer or shorter and tight or loose string would increase the volume of the sound. We found that a tight, short string produced the loudest sound because the sound vibrations had more energy when they reached the ear due to the string being shorter and the sound waves could travel in just one direction in a straight line rather than travelling in lots of different directions.

Poetry performance

Yesterday Year 3 performed a poem to the whole school. We read a poem based on Spike Milligan's famous poem called 'On the Ning nang nong'

Our poem links to our topic and was called 'On the Stone Age hill'

Handball

Year 4 have been having lots of fun in their handball lessons with Mr Williams. Today, they played games to showcase all the different things they have been learning. They showed fantastic skills of shooting, defending, moving into space and brilliant teamwork. Great job everyone!

Volleyball

Year 4 loved having a go at volleyball with Charlie yesterday from the Jason Robinson Foundation. They learnt all about how to serve and different ways they could hit the ball. They had a competition to see how many volleys they could do without the ball hitting the floor with the winners managing to get 7. Well done everyone!

Freddy Fit Fun

On Friday, Year 3 and 4 loved their session with Freddy Fit.

They showed great resilience in the speed bounce, amazing flexibility in the limbo challenge and had lots of fun doing lots of different fitness exercises. Well done everyone!

Young Ambassadors

Here are our Young Ambassadors for this school year! Their role is to help promote sport and PE across school. They have already been very busy in KS1 running lots of diffferent games at lunch time. They completed their training last week and got to meet GB sprinter, Andy Robertson who was a Young Ambassador when he was at school.

We cannot wait to see their ideas in action!

Game Changers

Here are our Game Changers for this school year! Their role is to help ensure equal access in sport for girls and boys, especially in football.

They attended training last week and already have so many ideas for things we can do at school. The Game Changers look very smart in their new hoodies!

We cannot wait to see the impact they have across school in ensuring equal access in sport.
