Roman trip to Chester

Year 4 had lots of fun visiting the Grosvenor Museum in Chester to learn about the Romans. Their favourite part was marching to the amphitheatre chanting 'Sin, sin, sin, dex, sin' and making the battle formations. They managed to get into formation in 2 minutes; just like the Romans did!

Roman soldiers

Year 4 were Roman soldiers for the day today! They marched around the hall shouting 'Sin Dex Sin' whilst carrying all their heavy equipment and attempted to make a range of battle formations including the testudo. They then had to apply what they had learnt to try to defeat the Celts.

Library Club

Today our first group of Reading Ambassador held a Library club at lunchtime. They enjoyed reading books with other children.

Art Club

Every Wednesday year 3 and 4 pupils can get a pass to attend Art Club. This is being run at lunchtime by three brilliant year 4 pupils. Each week will have a different theme. I cannot wait to see what they create.

Pol-Ed Assembly by Wellbeing Leaders

Our Wellbeing Leaders delivered their first assembly of the new year today. The focus was Happy Mind, Happy You. They gave the pupils lots of strategies to help them with their emotions and the support in place when they are struggling.

Reading Ambassadors

Meet the Reading Ambassadors who will be reading advocates for the school this year. They will work alongside Miss Harvey and Tameside Libraries to promote reading across the school with lunchtime clubs and reading challenges. They can't wait to get started.

Meet our Wellbeing Leaders

Our Wellbeing Leaders continue in their roles this year. Jorge is now our Leader of the group and will ensure pupil wellbeing is targeted everyday in school. We welcome three new pupils to our group, who I am sure will be brilliant. On Monday our pupils will deliver their first assembly on Happy Minds, Happy Lives by Pol-Ed.

Our new Pupil Leaders...

Our new Pupil Leaders have been voted and they have received their badges in assembly this morning. Well done to these excellent role models, who will be the voice of our pupils. Our first meeting next week will look at safeguarding.

Place value work in Maths

Year 4 have made a great start to the year and have been working really hard in their Maths work. They have been learning all about the place value of numbers to 1000. They have represented them with dienes and place value counters and also estimated where they go on a number line. Well done Year 4; keep up the hard work!
