Author workshop

Today year 3 joined an online workshop with author Aoife Dooley who has written the graphic novels called 'Squid squad'. We joined in with a drawing lesson creating some of the sea creature characters from Aoife's book. We then listened to Aoife talk about what it is like to be an author and where her ideas come from.

Stars in year 3

Well done to our stars this week who won awards in assembly. Well done to the whole class who won an award for their enthusiasm during our workshop yesterday.

Hunter gatherers

Check out our awesome hunting skills. We had to try and kill a cave bear, a woolly mammoth or a sabre tooth rider. Niki managed to kill all 3 with only three spears!

Stone Age Workshop

We have had so much during our workshop today. We have learned so many new facts about what life was like during the Stone Age. We had a close inspection of some real artefacts including a real woolly mammoth's tusk, hair and lots of real flint. We had a go at being hunter gatherers practising our hunting skills using spears. We then got to meet a wooly rhino in our classroom. Please ask the children what they enjoyed the most and I am sure that they will have lots to share.

Please look through our terrific photos.

Stone Age timeline

Year 3 worked collaboratively to research and present a poster about different periods of time of the Stone Age. We found out about the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age times. After they made their time line posters they presented them to the class using their oracy skills.

Firework safety

Today we have discussed the firework code and how to enjoy Bonfire Night safely. The children have designed colourful posters with super safety tips.

Our KS2 pupils did us proud in the final race of the Cross Country Grand Prix. Well done to everyone that took part!

Autumn 2 Topic: Could you stick it in the Stone Age?

Over the next 7 weeks our new topic is 'Could you stick it in the Stone Age?'. We will become historians delving back to prehistoric times to explore what life was like. To begin our topic we have our exciting workshop on Thursday 6th November. Please see the attcahed topic information which describes some of the activites we will be taking part in this half term. Please also see the home learning grid- this gives lots of opportunity for home learning to consolidate learning completed in class.

Bessie Coleman

For Black History month year 3 have found out about the life of American aviator Bessie Coleman. These sketches of her are fabulous.
