How does your garden grow?

This half term (Spring term 2) our topic is 'How does your garden grow?'. We will be learning all about plants and the environment. We will explore the history of our local area and delve into the past, learning about Beatrix Potter and visiting our local park, Gorse Hall. For more information regarding what we are learning about this half term, please see the MTP below.


Story time

Year 3 have had a wonderful time today sharing their stories from English with Year 1 and Year 2. Their oracy skills shone Reading with emphasis and making their stories about natural disasters exciting.

Well done!


House Cup Winners!

A huge congratulations to Team Emerald, who have won the House Cup and will receive non-uniform day on Friday 14th February. They won with 1,233 points - Well done!


World Book Day events 2025

Thursday 6th March is World Book Day and every year Broadbent Fold takes parts in lots of different reading activities and events to encourage reading for pleasure.

Please see the attached newsletter with events that will be happening during the week of World Book Day including:

- bring in a book or comic on Thusday 6th March

- the whole school will perform a poem

- a competition for KS1 and KS2

- a dress up day on Friday 7th March.


Learning carousel

Today in Year 1, we moved around a carousel of activities including practising our phonics, creating art work by Henri Mattise, Wassily Kandinsky and George Surrat.


Author Spotlight

The Reading Ambassadors set the whole school a challenge to research a famous author to share in assembly. Today each class shared some facts about their chosen authors including Michael Rosen, Francesca Simon, Tom Fletcher, Jeff Kinney, Katherine Rundell and Tony Bradman.

Thank you for sharing your facts and please look out for these author books in our library. 


This week's SUPER-stars are....

Lots of awards this week! Well done to this weeks Head-teacher, Good to be Green and Handwriting champions. Year 1 have received a Head-Teachers award for ‘working their socks off!’ Well done to all of of bronze star point award winners too, they have reached 100 star points! Well done to H, A, I, E and T who have received special awards / achievements at their outside of school clubs! A huge congratulations to them.


Handwriting Winners

Wow look at our handwriting board at all of the lovely handwriting being demonstrated throughout school. Our presentation is outstanding and progresses so well through school.
