Reading Ambassador meeting with Tameside Library

Today our Reading Ambassadors had their first meeting with Lisa from Tameside Library. First they shared all of the posters that were entered into the competition- thank you to members of Year 5 and Year 2 for your poster entries. Please see their posters attached. Then they had a book quiz all about the library and different children's fiction and authors. Then we were set our next reading mission- details will be shared very soon...

Fire fighters visited Broadbent Fold

Today, Year 1 and Year 2 had superhero visitors - fire fighters come and explain their jobs.

We learnt that 5 firefighters are in one fire engine and are needed to put out fires. Fire fighters go to fires to put them out but they also go to car accidents to rescue people. Such an important job - being a fire fighter!

Odd Socks Day

We celebrate our differences today with Odd Socks Day 2024 - part of our Anti-bullying themes this week.

Polish Day celebrations

Year 2 had so much fun today making Polish open sandwiches! They used Polish ingredients including rye bread, ham and cheese. Delicious! We also looked at traditional folk patters. We liked the designs and how colou they are.

Anti-Bullying Week

Anti-Bullying Week 2024 will take place from Monday 11th - Friday 15th November, with the theme: Choose Respect. Odd Socks Day is taking place on Tuesday 12th November, with adults and children being encouraged to wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.

Year 2 Stars of the Week

Congratulations to our award winners this week. Headteacher's Certificates were awarded for collaboration in DT lessons when making fire engines and for showing great throwing and catching skill in PE.

Design Technology

Year 2 absolutely loved designing fire engines and making their own model fire engine!

They carefully planned their detailed designs.  Children learnt about wheels and axles and used them in their designs.

We are very impressed with their fabulous Design Technology skills.

Year 2- Why was London burning?

Autumn 2-

Why was London Burning?

A fabulous history themed question to widen Year 2's knowledge of British History and learning how events in history have changed houses, nursing and how the fire service has changed throughout history.

Children will make their own fire engines in Design Technology themed lessons.
