Plants- Year 2 looked closely a the differences between seeds and bulbs.
They planted sunflower seeds, runner beans and cress.
Lots of discussion took place about plants that we eat and flowering plants.

Today, we were lucky enough to have a visit from freestyle footballer Ash Randall. He showed us lots of his amazing skills and we couldn't wait to have a go at break and lunch time ourselves. We were impressed to find out that Ash has 25 world records for his freestyle football skills and also has an award for having over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. He said the main things for becoming a great freestyle footballer are determination, perseverance, passion and honesty - some of our sporting values!
We can feel the buzz of excitement in Year 2 ...."beeeing the best we can".
Sharing a fabulous non- fiction book is our first hook to stick children's interest into reading.

Year 3 have had a wonderful time today sharing their stories from English with Year 1 and Year 2. Their oracy skills shone Reading with emphasis and making their stories about natural disasters exciting.

A huge congratulations to Team Emerald, who have won the House Cup and will receive non-uniform day on Friday 14th February. They won with 1,233 points - Well done!

Year 2 joined an online lesson about Cyber Security learning about scams and firewalls.
Children listened really well.
Thursday 6th March is World Book Day and every year Broadbent Fold takes parts in lots of different reading activities and events to encourage reading for pleasure.
Please see the attached newsletter with events that will be happening during the week of World Book Day including:
- bring in a book or comic on Thusday 6th March
- the whole school will perform a poem
- a competition for KS1 and KS2
- a dress up day on Friday 7th March.

Thank you parents for sending your little pirates into school.
Ahoy there Mateys! Children learnt to speak using pirate phrases.
They really enjoyed art, treasure chest activities and controlling bee bots to find points on a map!
After weeks of practise, Year 2 performed their pirate dances to Year 1 and Mrs Parker.
