Simon Hunt visit

Today, Simon Hunt (A Teacher and an Author) visited Broadbent Fold to celebrate and share his stories with us! He read his book 'Billy the Bottom Burping Pirate.' The children found this story very amusing and even join in with the bottom burping sound effects.

Black History Month

As a part of Black History Month celebrations we had a special visitor in Year 2. Agnes, our governor, shared her heritage with us and introduced us to Adinkra printing. Agnes explained that Adinkra in the Akan language means "saying goodbye". She told us all about different symbols used and how stamps are hand made using calabash/ gourd. The children had a go at printing different symbols first on paper and then on fabric.

The Reading Ambassadors have set a challenge for over half term. please see the attached details for how to create a poster for our library. Tameside Library would like our winning entries to put on their social media.

Year 2 Award winners this week

Congratulations to the Year 2 children who received Headteachers Award for effort in writing and excellent manners. Big well done to the children who received Good to be Green pencil. We also had a Vocabulary Ninja champion this week.

Vocab Ninja Winners

Well done to our first Vocab Ninja winners of the year. These children always contribute in their Word of the day lessons and try hard to use good vocabulary in their writing.

Book Donation Ryder & Dutton

Our Reading Ambassadors and Librarians met Ryder & Dutton today - where they presented school with new books! These books are gothic novels and a selection we needed to inspire boys to read. Thank you so much for this contribution, our pupils will love them.

Sports Leaders training

The Year 6 sports leaders have worked hard on their play leader training with Geoff from Tameside Sport. They created some game ideas, learnt how to include everyone and adapt activities if pupils are finding them too easy or difficult. Year 1 and Year 2 cannot wait to have you helping them at lunchtime next week!
