The story of The Green Man

Today in Forest School we listened to and talked about the story of The Green Man. We learnt about he looks after the plants, trees and wildlife in the forest. Then we looked for faces of The Green Man in the trees and used clay to make our own Green Man faces and figures.

The RSPB Big Schools’ Bird Watch

In Forest School today we carried out the RSPB Big Schools' Bird Watch. Everyone was very excited about finding different birds and we even found a trail of soft, fluffy white feathers. We played in the hammock and played What's the time Mr Wolf?

Hot chocolate and birds nests

In Forest school this week we found lots of ice sculptures, played the icicle game, made some birds nests and warmed up with some delicious hot chocolate.

Fire lighting success!

The children in the Year 5 loved lighting their mini fires. It was quite tricky but they showed their fantastic resilience skills and didn't give up! Super den building and Santa making too,

S’mores, ice and hot chocolate!

It was a chilly forest school session but we warmed up by playing games, making whittled Santa Clauses and having hot chocolate and delicious s'mores. Everyone enjoyed finding the "ice sculptures"!

Den building and campfire donuts

After collecting their own firewood Year 5 designed and cooked delicious campfire donuts on the open fire. Everyone loved them especially the marshmallow and chocolate ones. What shall we cook next?

Fantastic den building and firewood chopping too! Everyone loved finding the extra long branches and climbing the trees.
