Maths in Art!

Most classes took part in an Art activity during the recent World Maths Day!  It was a great opportunity to investigate different shapes and the children were inspired by artists such as Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian.  Year 4 focussed on M.C. Escher and his infamous tessellations whilst Year 6 included some 3D art into the equation!  Fantastic artwork by everyone!  Mrs Blomeley.

Visit from GB sprinter Andy Robertson

We were lucky enough to have a visit from GB sprinter Andy Robertson who recently won the bronze medal at the European indoor athletics championships. He told us all about his life as an athlete and how he started athletics when he was 8 years old! He answered lots of our questions and even brought his medal in to show us!

World Maths Day Awards!

Well done to all our award winners following World Maths Day last week!  The whole school took part in the Mathletics challenge to play with almost 10,000 children across the country!  Our children at Broadbent Fold excel at Maths and we are very proud of their brilliant efforts!  Certificates were awarded to the top 5 children in each class, with prizes for the top scoring children across the country.  Our Year 4 winner came 51st in the country!  How amazing!  Prizes were also given for fantastic homework and for trying to find a job that doesn't need Maths!  Of course, every job needs Mat

Awards!

Today the class were awarded Attendance Awards, Worlds Maths Day Awards and we also have 3 winners for 'Design a Rugby Shirt'! Well done to everyone.

Easter competition entries!

The entries were amazing and super creative. Choosing our winner and runner up wasn't easy but a huge well done to the winner who created an Indiana Jones entry! Our runner up was the Castleton entry which brought back good memories of our residential trip. We also had 2 lucky raffle winners from our class!

3D Investigation

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their maths revision today. They were investigating nets and creating 3D shapes. Their mathematical language really improved and I was impressed by their tenacity in creating different 3D shapes.

Brunch with Mrs Parker

One child from each class was chosen to have brunch with myself this morning for being green on our behaviour chart all term. They are wonderful role models and I am very proud of them everyday! Well done - the chocolate brownies were my favourite.

Easter time

Children throughout school are learning about Easter traditions including why Easter is so special to Christians.

Ask children can they explain the difference between Good Friday and Easter Sunday?

How do you celebrate Easter?
