Year 6 were very respectful during our 2 minutes silence for Remembrance Day at 11:00 am. They used their emotions to create a wonderful poignant poppy display later in the day.

Agnes (our Diversity Governor) came into Year 6 today to share the journey of chocolate from the plantations to the supermarket. The children were very enthused to learn about the lives of plantation children and had some very inciteful questions.

Today, the Year 6 had a fabulous visit from the Fire Brigade. They learnt about how to keep themselves safe at this time of year with fire works, Halloween and the consequences of anti social behaviour. This work was a fabulous follow up from the Safe Squad visit in October in supporting the children keeping themselves safe and making sensible decisions as they are growing up.
I do hope you've all had a fabulous October holiday, and the children are raring to get cracking for our second term in Year 6. This half term will continue to immerse the children in the expectations of Year 6. I will be explicit in how we can raise standards to ensure the children know what they need to do this year to be secondary school ready. These standards will be interwoven into our work in our second topic of the year- Did we come from apes?
