Did we used to be apes?

Our new topic is called 'Did we used to be apes?' This is an exciting topic where we explore inheritance and evolution. We have an upcoming science workshop where we look at evolution, fossils and skeletons. Please see the attached home learning grid for additional hom learning. Our new PE days are Wednesdays and Thursdays and suitable outdoor PE kits need to be worn.

Unique Talent Talks part 3

Today our Talents Talks concluded with artists, potters, swimmers, dog trainers and many more talents and skills.

Year 6 we have been very impressed with all of your contributions to this. Thank you to those who have shared how they are unique and wonderful. I have really enjoyed finding out more about you all.

Half term activities

We have lots going on for children and families during the upcoming half term.

Girls Pokémon Semi Final

Our girls football team had the Pokemon semi final tonight against St Raphael's and Dowson Primary School. They lost 3-0 to St Raphael's and 2-0 to Dowson. The girls showed great team spirit and enthusiasm throughout all of the games, supporting each other and did the school proud. Izzy showed some fantastic goal keeping skills and Reiss was very calm in defence and showed great control in the game. Evie-Mae was our player of the tournament for some brilliant tackles and for really throwing herself into every game.

Blooket

Year 6 loved playing on blooket today. It is an interactive quiz to test any subject. We used it today to refresh our knowledge about our history topic on the British monarchs. Our winner today was Nathan well done.

Science learning in Y6

This half term our science topic has been light and shadow. We have explored reflection, made light mazes and periscopes and investigated shadows for a puppet show.

What a fun topic!

Reading Ambassadors training

Today the KS2 Reading Ambassadors met together for their training with Cassie from and Joy from Tameside Libraries. They have ideas ready to set a whole school reading challenge.

Thank you for your ideas- what a great team!

Talents Talks 2

Again the year 6 class have impressed us with their talks about how they are unique. Today we had gymnastics, aerial hooping and swimming amongst other talents.

Thank you for sharing.

Broadbent Fold vs St John’s

It was the boys football team's turn to play tonight where they had a game against St John's CE Primary School with a last minute goal by St John's in the final minute resulting in a final score of 2-3. There was some fantastic goalkeeping with a penalty saved and lots of great shots on target at the goal. Our defensive players really improved upon our last match holding their space better and working as a team. Well done boys, you did our school proud!

Super Space Week

Week beginning the 4th October is national space week. The school immersed themselves in learning about space. They have been fascinated about our solar system, the planets, the moons, space travel, astronauts and other galaxies. Year 2 even went to Jodrell Bank as a trip. Look at how fantastic the schools' display looks.
