Super Science Fair

What a treat Year 4 today had when they went to the science fair which was run by Year 6. There was so much learning as the older children explained how shadows are formed and about day and night.  The children managed to experiment and make finger prints, electrical circuits, build the digestive system, use microscopes, torches, make potions and lots more. They all had an amazing time, what a great event.

iMotion Pro

Year 4 had their first lesson in IMotion Pro. They were very eager at get started and make a movie that enabled them to capture little moments in time. The class very quickly got to grips with writing their name and moving an object across the tables. They watched the children's Tudor movies from last year and can't wait to make one next week. This year's theme is to depict The Spanish Armada attack.

Science Poster winners 2023

Well done to everyone who entered the British Science Week poster competition about connections.

I met with Mrs Blomeley and the Pupil Leaders this week to choose our school winners which was a very difficult decision.

Our KS1 winner is Nora!

Our KS2 winners are Matilda in Y5 and Sam G, Harriet, Thomas O and Boyd in Y6.

Well done to you all :)

Gardening Eco Club Week 1

The Eco Leaders have done a fantastic job this afternoon trimming the overgrown plants, weeding and litter picking. We also made friends with some very cute baby snails!  Well done everyone!

Health and Nutrition

Year 4 started their healthy eating lesson today by identifying and classifying foods into the correct food groups. They then got the chance to look at the school menu and to unpick which meals included elements from all 5 food groups. There was lots of discussion about how healthy some meals actually were.

Art fit for a King!

All of the children in Key Stage 2 have worked so hard to transform our Art Gallery into a celebration of the forthcoming Coronation of King Charles III.  They have used different medium to create their images; Year 3 used digital media to produce their versions of crowning King Charles, Year 4 used their portrait skills, Year 5 created new Royal crests by researching the King's hobbies and Year 6 chose stained glass windows as a backdrop for their amazing portraits. Well done everyone!

Visit from Ash Randall

Everyone at Broadbent Fold loved their visit from freestyle footballer Ash Randall today. He holds 25 records in the Guinness book of Records and spoke to everyone about the importance of not giving up as he has been practising for 17 years. Ash Randall taught some of our pupils and even Miss Lewis and Miss Mainprize some new tricks. Thank you for your visit Ash!

The Hive North

Broadbent Fold had the enormous pleasure to have a visit from The Hive North this afternoon. They were here to perform a play about how families are all different. The children had an amazing time being trainee zoo keepers and completely interacting with the performance. Thank you so much for  a fabulous afternoon.

The Great Big School Clean

The Great Big School Clean campaign runs from 17th March to the 2nd April 2023. I have pledged that as a school we can collect 12 bags of rubbish.  Hopefully we can collect more!

Well done to all of the children who have already started litter picking on their way to school and around the school grounds.  You are doing a fantastic job to help the environment!
