In Maths today, we worked in small groups to match 3D shapes to their names and number of edges in a fun, practical activity. This helped us to do our independant work and explore faces too.

This week, we have been exploring 'Where in the word do we live?' We used Google Earth on the ipads to explore our local area and identify key features, making links between what we can see from above and what we see on the ground using the street view. We then used an ariel print out of our school and the local community to identify as many features that we could. We loved using Google Earth!
Happy New Year everybody! I hope you have had a lovely Christmas and New Year. We will be beginning the New Year with our topic 'Where will our adventure take us?' During Spring term 1, we will be exploring Piracy. We will be taking part in a Pirate themed day on Tuesday 6th February. Your child can come to school dressed as a Pirate on this day and we will be taking part in lot's of cross curricular activities. Today, as part of our design and technology focus, the children used their cutting, folding, grating and peeling skills to create healthy wraps. The children were encouraged to try new foods to help their understanding of a balanced diet. The children ate their wraps and evaluated them. Brillliant job year 2, some noticable cooks!

Year 2 enjoyed cooking damper bread and making s'mores as part of their topic The Great Fire of London. The children made houses based on the wooden ones from Pudding Lane and we found out how quickly the fire can spread from one house to another when they are close together.

Tameside Library are running a Winter Mini Challenge -perfect for keeping children reading during the Christmas holidays! The challenge is all online so it’s easy for children to sign up and read any books they have at home as well as borrowed from the library, and library ebooks and euadiobooks from Borrowbox count for the challenge too!
