Why do we need to wash our hands properly?

Today in Science, we investigated the importance of washing our hands properly. We took part in an experiment, demonstrating how quickly germs can spread using glitter. We then learnt about what happens if we do not wash our hands properly. We learnt the correct way to wash our hands and put this to the test to see if we could get the glitter off using the correct technique. Ask your child some questions about how long you should wash your hands for or about the correct hand washing technique.

Can you survive in the woods?

This half term we are exploring the question Can you survive in the woods? We will be exploring a variety of traditional fairy tales, in particular Little Red Riding Hood. The children will then write their own twisted version of Little Red Riding Hood. We will be designing waterproof shelters, building and evaluating their effectiveness. We will also be going on a nature walk in our local community (Gorse Hall) and printing with leaves to create decorative patterns and works of art that capture the beauty of nature.

Achievements

Today, we have celebrated a number of achievements... Well done to the children who received the following awards: Head-teachers, Good to be Green, Attendance, Star Points and Sports awards. Well done everybody! Have a lovely Easter break!

Science Challenge: what could this be?

I would like you to use your scientific observational skills to look at the image. What could it be? What does it make you think of?

Can you describe the colours, textures and shapes that you can see?

If you think you can guess what the image may be please come and let me know or tell your class teacher.

I will the reveal the answer soon in an assembly...

Miss Harvey
