Good Luck Year 6

Good luck Year 6 with your Key Stage 2 tests next week. We know how brilliant you all are, just go out there and show everyone else how  fabulous you are! We are very proud of all your achievement. Believe in yourselves, we know you can do it! All the best from everyone at Broadbent Fold.

Lift Off

Year 4 are off to The Caribbean. Watch this space for information about where they have been jetting off to.

Our Animal Kingdom

Our new topic is all about animals this half term. We are mainly looking at britsh wild animals. This week we have been discussing animals that we might find in our local environment. To start our topic work we went out onto the school field to search for evidence of animals. It was lots of fun and we found some interesting things!

Fairground Posters

This week we have been making fairground posters. The children had to include features such as price, time and venue. We have displayed these in our classroom. Come and have a look!

Welcome to the Fair.

This half term our topic is The Fairground. During our English sessions the children will be making information booklets, posters, tickets and learning about nouns, adjectives and verbs. In maths we will be focusing on time, position and direction. We will also be making our own moveable fairground rides. We are really looking forward to this half term and having lots of fun while we learn.

Science Week

During science week we visited a planetarium. It was amazing seeing the planets and the stars in our solar system. The children asked lots of questions about the solar system and we wrote a recount about our experience.

Easter

We have been learning all about the Easter story. We have made Easter nests, had an Easter egg hunt and made some fantastic Easter bonnets!

Science Week - Space for Science: Science in Spaces

From Tuesday to Thursday of Science Week Year 5 enjoyed working on  the different space themes: Outer Space, Digital Space, Personal Space and Built Space. The Planetarium workshop enabled Year 5 to embed their new found knowledge of the Solar System, whilst discovering more about stars and constellations.  They used Digital Space to create scientific Scratch projects based around food chains and in Personal Space they investigated how different colours made them feel.

Science Week - Sharing Open Spaces!

On the final day of Science Week, Year 5 and Year 6 chose to work together on "Open Spaces".  We made the short walk to Gorse Hall armed with black bags, string and cardboard to create their dens. Accompanied by myself, Mrs Austin, Mrs Gething and Mrs Brereton, the children thoroughly enjoyed the activity and the end results were fabulous!   More importantly we were all extremely impressed by their team spirit and hard work.  Well done to you all!  Mrs Blomeley
