Creative home learning is set at the beginning of every half... more

Welcome back to Summer 1; we are now entering the final term of Year 5! This half term, we will be exploring our exciting history topic, “Who were the Anglo-Saxons?”. The children will learn about who the Anglo-Saxons were, where they came from, and how they lived, developing their understanding of early British history. As part of this topic, we will be visiting Rayner Stephens to cook some Anglo-Saxon recipes, and we will also be holding a special Anglo-Saxon Day to celebrate and bring our learning to life!
Forest School is on Monday; PE is on Wednesdays (Football) with our fantastic sports coach, and Thursdays (Rounders).
Have a look at our Class Blog to view the Medium-Term Plan for this topic, where you will find other activities planned for all areas of the curriculum. You will also find the Challenge Home Learning grid for Year 5, which contains optional activities to complete at home if your child wishes to do something extra, together with this term’s Creative Homework project. We always enjoy seeing the children’s efforts, so please do keep sharing their wonderful work!
Homework (Thursdays)
Weekly homework task
There will be a weekly homework task set in your child’s homework book. Please complete this ready for every Thursday. We will go through the homework together as a class to review and consolidate learning.
Spellings
A spelling sheet will be handed out to your child every two weeks, which will be stuck in their homework book, to practice if they need to. A spelling test will be followed up on every second Thursday.
Reading
Please read a few times a week and record it in your child’s reading diary. An adult is required to sign it for acknowledgement.
If you wish to contact us, you can message me through our class Seesaw, request a telephone / face-to-face consultation via the main office (0161-303-9411) or email me via admin@broadbentfold.tameside.sch.uk.

Thank you for all your support - the children are working hard in Year 5 and making good progress in their learning!
