Reading Ambassadors Training Meeting

Yesterday our Reading Ambassadors had their first online training session with Tameside Libraries. We used padlet to add our ideas in the session about how we can promote reading more in our school.

I am very proud of their dedication in this role! Well done!

Mirrors

Today in Gymnastics, we have been exploring different mirror moves with a partner. We created a sequence of work with a clear start, controlled twists, spins and turns. We discussed how we can improve our sequences by using different levels and transitioning from one movement to another. Well done everyone, some super mirroring work!

Material madness

This half term, we have exploring different materials and their properties. We have been material detectives searching for different materials and objects around school, we have explored the properties of materials and investigated whether different materials are suitable to make certain objects, for example: a chocolate teapot. We have also been investigating whether different objects can change shape and discussed the most changeable and why we think this is. Well done everybody!

Yoga

In Yoga this week, we have been learning about belly breathing and relaxing our bodies. We have learnt and performed a number of yoga poses including: tree, butterfly, mountain, cloud, shooting star, planet, moon and aeroplane. We then played a game called back to back. We finished off our session reading “Aliens Love Underpants” by Claire Freedman whilst the children lay or sat with their eyes closed. The children continued to sit or lie quietly and concentrate on their breath for up to a minute.

Paper bin design competition

The Eco leaders would like to launch a competition to design a new sign for our blue paper bins in school. They would like the sign to explain why it is important to recycle paper - e.g. Save the world, recycle your paper. The sign should be eye catching and colourful on A4 paper. Please send your entries into school by Friday 4th November and the Eco leaders will be choosing the winners from each class.

Amazing achievements

Well done to the children who received this week's Head-teacher and Good to be Green awards, they are well deserved! Well done. Keep up the hard work!

New diverse books

We have started to develop our diverse section of books in the KS2 Library and in our KS1 classrooms. We are very excited about the range of books that we have added to our library. These include books, characters and authors from the Black, African and Minority Ethnic community and books which celebrate characters who are neurodiverse.

Have a look in the KS2 Library for our new books with the brown sticker bands.

Black History Month

October is Black History Month. At Broadbent Fold we continue to raise awareness of equality and diversity. Check out our year group blogs to see which significant black individual each class has been studying. We are here to learn from the past to make a difference to our present day and our future for everyone.
