Team building games

Year 3 enjoyed their team building games in PE today, especially 'Cross the river' where they had to use boats to cross every body over the river safely.

Arches and bridges

Year 4 have been working really hard in their gymnastics lessons. They have been looking at symmetrical and asymmetrical turns and balances. This week we tried to incorporate our asymmetrical arches and bridges onto our apparatus. Well done everyone!

Walk to the North Pole

Broadbent Fold worked together to get 3961 points and successfully travel to the North Pole. Pupils and staff were tasked to try to complete 5 minutes of active travel every day where possible and every day they managed got a point for school. All children who managed to get at least 4 points were given a key ring as a prize. We had so many children complete their active travel every day that we had to raffle the top 3 prizes. Well done to everyone that took part!

Finish this…

Year 4 received their certificates last week for completing the Finish This project with English National Opera. They were tasked with composing and performing their own song about a colour. They worked as a team and created the song Peony Pink. Well done everyone!

Designing pirate ships!

As part of their Design Technology work Year 2 designed pirate ships.

Children are designing them and will test them in water!

Excellent team work skills shown by Year 2.

Dance Through the Ages

Year 6 are working hard to create a dance through the ages. They have used dance aspects from the Charleston, moved on to the Lindihop and are practising their hand jives. They are very enthusiastic about it and loved sharing ideas with a partner.

Basketball

Year 3 are enjoying learning techniques and rules of basketball with our sport's coach Mr Williams.

Pupil Leaders discuss School Clubs!

The Pupil Leadership team met yesterday to discuss After School and Lunchtime Clubs!  Broadbent Fold are proud of their wide variety of sporting clubs, as well as the hugely popular After School Musical Theatre club.  We discussed that there had been a dip in the amount of Upper Key Stage 2 children signing up to clubs lately.  Other commitments outside of school (eg swimming, attending own football clubs etc) seemed to be some possible reasons for this.  We are all so active!

Viking Invasion

Year 6 have worked ever so hard to create a double page spread about the invasion of The Vikings in 793 AD at Lindisfarne. Their work is coming on really well.

Decimalisation

Year 6 have been applying their place value knowledge to decimalisation. Here the children are working out multi-step word problems with manipulatives to support their understanding.
