Governor Portraits

Catherine Parker- Headteacher

I have grown up in Dukinfield, attending Globe Lane Primary School and Dukinfield Astley High School. I attended Hyde Clarendon College and graduated Manchester Metropolitan University with a BEd in Education. I have worked in the Manchester authority since I was an NQT and this is my first Tameside school. I have a love for being active and outdoors and taking part in anything that is linked to sport. I want this to encompass the ethos at Broadbent Fold.

Katie Costello

I am a researcher at the University of Manchester, and participate in a variety of teaching, public outreach and science communication programs. I am passionate about education and ensuring that young people receive the best start to their education, so that they can go on to achieve great things. I moved to Tameside in early 2019 and was immediately keen to become more embedded in the community where we plan to settle.

Abigail Lewis- Staff Governor

Since graduating from Liverpool John Moore’s University in 2013 with a degree in Primary and Secondary Education specialising in Physical Education, I have worked in North Manchester and Salford before joining Broadbent Fold in 2015. During my 7 years at Broadbent Fold, I have lead PE, English, Phonics, Design and Technology, mentored newly qualified teachers and worked in partnership with Manchester University, recruiting for trainee teachers.  I have  worked in Years 3, 5  and 2 and I have a keen interest in becoming a middle leader. I enjoy spending my half terms going abroad, camping and taking my Son on fun days out.

Wilhelmina McCoy- Deputy Head Teacher

I have worked in Tameside since qualifying as a teacher in 1994 and have taught in four primary schools and have had the privilege of teaching at Broadbent Fold since 2013. I am extremely fortunate to work in Educating the future generations of young adults and to be part of our Broadbent Fold team. The calm and purposeful learning environment and the enthusiasm is inspiring. I am proud to be part of a school which embeds a sense of happiness and real care into everyday life, which echoes my own educational philosophy. I am also very fortunate to have three fantastic children, and enjoy spending holiday time on the Cornish coast or visiting National Trust properties.

Ross Keeble- Parent Governor

I am a father to two young boys, with my eldest attending Broadbent Fold.  I am a bicycle, and outdoor instructor.  I spend most of my time working with Early Years and Key Stage 1, teaching them to ride bicycles, or with years 5 and 6, delivering Bikeability, and teaching them to ride safely on roads.  Prior to this I taught Design and Technology for 15 years.  During this time I was an Advanced Skills Teacher, Local Authority Subject Lead, and a staff governor.  I still have a keen interest in pedagogy and the science of learning, and believe that all children should be given every possible opportunity to shine.

Shawna Sibson- Parent Governor

I have worked in education since 2004, working as a teacher in both primary and secondary schools.  I currently work as a teacher in a local primary school, working in classes across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 teaching all areas of the curriculum.  Two of my children attend Broadbent Fold and I believe that successful schools have strong parental partnerships.  I am keen to commit my time in supporting the development of Broadbent Fold now and in the future, ensuring all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Bob Boyle- Chair of Governors

I have worked in Tameside, since 2015, managing and leading a team of engineers at a major food production facility. Previously, I have volunteered as an Appropriate Adult, supporting young people and vulnerable adults, across Greater Manchester. As a father of two, and being married to an English teacher, I am acutely aware of the importance of education in the life of our young people. I am passionate about ensuring that all children achieve their full potential, in a safe and secure environment.

Sharon Ashmore- Parent Governor

I am very enthusiastic about having been appointed as a parent governor to support the school my own daughter attends. I look forward to helping to ensure that pupils are given the appropriate opportunities to succeed at Broadbent Fold Primary & Nursery school.

John Moon- Co-opted Governor

I have previously had a career in Banking, ultimately as a Branch Manager, and then going on to work for a firm of Solicitors in Manchester, until I retired  some four years ago. I have lived at the same house in Dukinfield, close to Broadbent Fold, for some 44 years.  Our three grandchildren attend the school, and we have been closely involved in their early years development as you would expect. I believe that a good education is an essential building block of a child’s future and hope that I am able to use the knowledge, life skills and common sense that I have acquired to help the school move forward to achieve increased success in what are challenging times.
