Chinese New Year

A Chinese restaurant role play area has been created in our nursery classroom, children have been taking food orders and pretending to be waiters and waitresses. Our funky fingers area has Chinese numbers and children have the opportunity to match pom poms to the correct numbers using tweezers which develops fine motor skills.

DEAR- Drop Everything And Read

Nursery children enjoyed their parents visiting and taking part in our reading workshop. Children enjoyed listening and joining in with stories, they made winter biscuits and paper plate artic foxes. There was also opportunity to take part in activities that involved recognising initial sounds to the winter pictures for example 's' for snowman, 'i' for igloo.

A huge thank you to all parents and grandparents who came and supported us with our reading workshop.

Winter wonderland

Halloween Maths Parent Workshop

Our Nursery class welcomed their parents who took part in our Halloween Maths themed workshop. Everyone enjoyed the various number and shape activites all with a Halloween theme.

Can you count how many witches' fingers? How many pumpkin seeds can you put on the pumpkins? Which shapes did you use to create the pumpkin face?

Parents gave very postitive feedback and said it they had been given a true insight into how children learn Maths in Nursery at Broadbent Fold.
