Pumpkin Carving Competition!

What a fantastic collection of pumpkins we received back into school!  Children from all year groups at Broadbent Fold have been busy carving their pumpkins ready to return them to school to line our Key Stage 2 path.  We also had a selection of entries sent in by email from some of the children who are isolating at home.  Each pumpkin was unique and they all looked amazing!  This afternoon our Pupil Leaders had the difficult job of choosing some winners.  All of the designs were brilliant but the Pupil Leaders managed to choose four:

The Promise!

Year 4 enjoyed their planting session with Mrs Anson yesterday!  First we watched "The Promise" - an urban fairy tale of a young thief who tries to snatch an old woman's bag.  She finds she can't have it without giving a promise in return - to plant acorns for future generations.  Later, Year 4 gave their own promises to nature by planting acorns or conkers, which they had collected and brought into school during the week. We are looking forward to observing the plants over time.  Mrs Blomeley.

Pumpkin Pickers!

Year 4 enjoyed picking their pumpkins yesterday!  Thanks to the PTFA they were able to buy one to take home to carve and decorate.  We are looking forward to seeing the finished pumpkin trail when they return them to school!  What a brilliant idea!  Mrs Blomeley

Challenge Me! Running!

Year 4 took on Miss Mainprize's Challenge Me event yesterday!  They earned their stickers by running around the playground for ten minutes!  Well done everyone!  Mrs Blomeley

Year 4's Journey Through Roman Britain!

Year 4 had a great day yesterday at their Roman Workshop.  A journey through the key events of Roman Britain was brought to life in an interactive timeline including appearances from Claudius and Boudica!  The children had the opportunity to wear armour, handle a range of Roman artefacts, and took great delight in throwing spears!   It will certainly be a day to remember!  Mrs Blomeley

Fun Fundraising Friday in Year 4!

Year 4 had a "Fun Friday" when they dressed in blue and green to raise funds for the RMCH and the NHS!  The morning started with a visit from Max and Harvey who performed their single "Stranger" in the hall.  The children loved it!  Thank you for all your donations and support.  Mrs Blomeley

Year 4's Roman Coins!

Year 4 had great fun designing and making their own Roman coins using air clay and metallic paint.  Look at the concentration on their faces!  We think you'll agree that the finished coins look amazing!  Mrs Blomeley

How did the Romans change Britain?

Year 4 are enjoying their first topic - How did the Romans change Britain?   The children have many questions to answer such as When and why did the Romans invade Britain?  Where did they live?  What did they eat?  Who did they fight?  They are working hard to gather the facts by reading our class texts to help them understand what life was really like for Roman soldiers almost two thousand years ago.  Mrs Blomeley
