Year 1 played lots of new games in forest school this week.  We used our senses to play the owl and mice game and used our dodging skills to play farmer, farmer and wood, wood, fire.

Year 3 enjoyed making bows and arrows using tools safely to cut branches from the willow and practice their knot tying skills.  They also made bird feeders and used their senses to play the owl and mice game.  The children enjoyed investigating the ice and warmed themselves up with some delicious hot chocolate.

The Eco Leaders carried out the RSPB Big Schools Bird Watch this morning.  They were all excellent at spotting the birds that are living in and near the school grounds.  We saw Magpies, Carrion crows, Sparrows and Robins.  We even spotted some beautiful Goldfinches eating the seeds from the Alder trees.  Well done everyone you did a fabulous job!

Our creative project in Year 3 this half term is a volcano model. The children worked really hard to creative some amazing models. We had smoking volcano, erupiting volcano and even a chocolate panettoni cake volcano. The cake looked and smelled delicious and we all wanted to eat it! The children practised their oracy skills when they shared their models and described the process of making them and materials they used. 

Well done to this weeks Head-teacher and Good to be Green awards! Thank you for putting in 100% effort into your work/behaviour. Well done to R who has won a 'lady of the match' at her football club outside of school. Keep up the hard work everybody!

Congratulations to our Stars this week Jenson and Riley.

Jenson is a conscientious hardworking boy who puts his full effort into each and every task.

Riley is a great sportsman who has recently demonstrated his skill and teamwork during his volleyball sessions.

Head Boy and Head Girl Xander and Kasia both received the good to be green awards for their extemporary behaviour and attitude to learning.

Year 6 have been finessing ther volleyball skills over the last few weeks. They have been practising how to serve and keep the ball in the air by digging up to each other. They have discussed how teamwork is vital to make sure they communicate to pass the ball between each other and to make sure that the same person doesn't touch the ball twice consecutively.

I am impressed with your commitment to this year 6.

This week we have celebrated Chinese New Year. We found out it is the year of the rabbit. We painted dragons, created lanterns using the lucky colour red and tasted spring rolls, egg fried rice and prawn crackers. It was delicious!

We have been sharing the story Meg and Mog. Meg creates some wonderful spells in the stories and we will making our own potions in nursery soon, how exciting!
