Honey tasting experience

Today, as part of our topic 'Where would we be without the bee?' we took part in a honey tasting experience. The children learnt how bees make honey and thet got to taste honey from Greece, Africa, UK and China. The children rated each of the four countries honey from 1-10 (10 being the most delicious) and then wrote a short explanation about why it was their favourite. COOL FACT: Did you know that honey from different parts of the world will taste different as it depends on the plants that the bees gather the nectar from!

Bee Hotels

Today, as part of our topic 'Where would we be without the bee', our Science topic 'Plants' and to celebrate Science week, Year 2 made Bee hotels to put around the school grounds to provide a suitable nesting place for Bees. We used bamboo sticks, branches, cut them to size and carefully tied them together to create a safe habitat. Great work everyone!

British Science Week

In 1994 British Science Week began - 30 years ago. Here at Broadbent Fold we are teaching our future inventors and scientists! Keep an eye on the blog for our workshops, experiments, awe and wonder!

#Letgirlsplay day

What a great day seeing so many girls playing football! Some Year 5 and 6 pupils went to Rayner Stephens to take part in a girls football festival while others played football at breaks and lunchtime. Our amazing Game Changers were awarded their well deserved badges for their dedication to girls football too.

World Book Day!

Today, we have celebrated World Book Day and dressed up as a character from one of our favourite books. Some children brought in their favourite book(s) to share with the rest of the class, we have also been designing a new book cover for our class text 'Bee & Me', researching and finding out all about our favourite Author / Poet 'Michael Rosen',  we have been listening to our two favourite poems (Chocolate Cake / Strict) and we have been explaining what we like about them.

Game Changers Assembly

Our Game Changers were very brave today doing an assembly infront of the whole school telling everyone about their role as Game Changers and #letgirlsplay day which is happening tomorrow. #Letgirlsplay is all about promoting equal access in girls football by 2025. We cannot wait for th fun activities to continue tomorrow!

World Book Day events 2024

World Book Day is celebrated between 7th-8th March and children may dress up on Friday 8th in their World Book Day costumes or in their own comfy clothes- please remember to bring in your favourite book from home to read.   The Reading Ambassadors and Librarians have set a World Book Day competition. Your child needs to create a new front cover for their class text which they are reading this half term.
