Well done to our winners and runners-up for the World Book Day competition to design a new front cover for their class book. The work is now up on display and looks fabulous. Can you guess the names of books we are reading across school?
Thank you everyone for your fantastic entries for the science competition, it was so difficult to choose the winners. Have a look at some of their fabulous creations.
Today in assembly we celebrated all of the hard work from World Book Day when each class shared some of their work on a class book or author. This was incredible to see and I was really impressed with all of the classes. It shows how much we love reading at Broadbent Fold.
We also rewarded our competition winners who designed a new book cover for their class text. Our runner-ups and winners all received a certificate and a prize. The winning entries will proudly be displayed in our library.
Well done to this week's Head-Teacher, Good to be Green, Vocabulary Ninja, Silver star points and gold star points award winners! Keep up the good work everyone!
We received a certificate for us taking part in #Letgirlsplay day. Look at our pictures across the blogs, lots to celebrate with equality in sport.
Today, Year 2 took part in lot’s of fun science experiments which Year 4 prepared and delivered. These activities included: chemical reactions, optical illusions, learning about famous Scientists, locating and labelling human body parts, working with magnets and much more.
Today, as part of our topic 'Where would we be without the bee', our Science topic 'Plants' and to celebrate Science week, Year 2 have been extremely busy tidying up the garden planters and planting bee friendly wild flower seeds to encourage a variety of different species of bee to visit our site. We safely used tools to tidy up the plants and get rid of the weeds. We then used the plant waste to make some compost heaps and bug houses to encourage a range of wildlife to visit the garden area. While we were gardening we found lots of worms, wood lice and snails.
To celebrate Science week, Year 2 took part in an 'Animals including Humans' workshop where the children learnt some cool facts about the human body, learnt some names of bones and took part in a circuit of physical activities to explore what actions humans can do. What a fun day we have had!
