Animal Classification

Fantastic discussions happened in class today whilst the children were classifying vertberates. They really debated what a turtle, platypus and a bat were as they all have features that were confusing. However, they managed to agree on the 7 life processes all living things do and really enjoyed using venn diagrams to further separate vertebrates into their different groups.

Friday Merits in Year 4

There has been a lot of awards this week in Year 4. Swimming awards, bronze awards, gold awards, good to be green pencils and head teacher awards were all received by Year 4 today. Well done everyone.

Groovy

Year 4 had an awesome time dressed up in their 1970's gear. They look amazing and thoroughly enjoyed the school fair after school too.

Cricket in Year 4

Year 4 have been working hard to perfect their fielding and batting skills so they can improve their cricket skills. They have had to use both hands to send and receive the ball and have aimed their batting shots so that their partner could practise catching. Some great work Year 4!

Exciting Egyptians

Year 4 found out about the Ancient Egyptians hieroglyphics and number system today. They were intrigued to find out about Ancient Egyptian tombs, mummification and how important the River Nile was. Look how fantastic their work was.

Broadbent Fold vs St Mary’s

Our Year 4 and 5 girls football team had their very first matches in a friendly tournament against St Mary's Catholic Primary School. There was some great goal keeping, defending and passing skills. The rain didn't stop the girls and they had a great time! Well done girls!

Year 4 Awards

What a fabulous week for Year 4. They achieved amazing multiplication results, completed their NFER tests with great results, achieved their swimming certificates, completed minibeast hunts and shared their feelings about growing up and diversity. Well done to everyone this week.

Our 50th Celebrations

What a lovely day for a whole school picnic and games! We enjoyed picnic food and played some party games, including: tug of war, sack race, hula hoop contest, penalty shootout, welly throw competition, egg and sppon race and a skipping competition. Even the weather stayed dry, bright and sunny. The children loved being out together as a whole school. A big thank you to all the parents for their kind donations towards party food.
