This week we have been very creative in Year 1. We have made a large 3D ferris wheel and all the children created their own clown collage. We used lots of different materials and the children had lots of fun choosing colours, textures and materials they wanted to use. I wonder what we will make next !!!!!!!!
Our new topic for this half term is the Fairground. We will be learning about fairground rides, Punch and Judy puppet shows and lots more.
Our new topic for this half term is The secret Garden. We will be focusing on the story, writing character descriptions, using creative writing strategies to write our own fantastic stories about finding a magical garden.
We will also be growing our own plants, learning about parts of a plant and what plants need to grow.

During this half term we will be learning about food from around the world, where food comes from and healthy and unhealthy food. We will also be focusing on the story of Oliver's Vegetables and we will be tasty lots of exciting foods along the way.

This half term we have had lots of fun during our Forest School sessions. The children have been playing games, exploring the environment, making fairy houses and lots more. We have also made twig Christmas trees to take home and the children have been looking at animals which hibernate over winter. We have really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait for our next sessions in Spring.
It's Christmas in Key Stage 1. We are all ready for our Christmas show "It's a Cracker". The children are very excited to perform for mummys and daddys. We can't wait to see you all there.

We have been using our maths brains this week by solving lots of word problems. It was lots of fun reading the problems, writing our own calculations and then trying to solve the problem. Even better because we were using chocolate and sweets. Great job everyone.

For homework we brought in holiday pictures. We talked about the different countries we had visited and where those countries are on the world map.
We all wrote a question about something we would like to find out about Our World. Find out if we asnwer all these questions in a later blog.

We have been learning all about place value this half term. The children have been learning numbers up to 100 and we have been using lots of resources to support our learning. We have been using number lines, numicon, magnetic numbers to help us add numbers together and find one more and one less. We have been very busy and we are ready for lots of new challenges next half term.
