Time Travel Tales!

We have some budding authors moving up to Year 5 next year!   During their last week in Year 4, children enjoyed telling their end of year Time Travel narratives to Year 3!  Not only had they written some amazing stories, Year 4 had designed and created their very own Time Travel objects which appeared in their tales!  These magical items included watches, clocks, hour glasses, stones, hats, tickets and books!  Children from Year 3 thought this made the stories even more exciting!  Brilliant writing and fabulous design and technology work too!  Mrs Blomeley

VE Day open afternoon

Thank you to Mums, Dads, Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles for joining us in celebrating the end of our WWII topic yesterday afternoon. The children were proud to show you their work and what they have been doing this half term. Thank you again for all your continued support his year. I wish the children the best of luck moving into Year 4. Miss Lewis

Coming to the end of the year...

What a jam packed year we have had exploring our topics Flying High, A Night on Bare Mountain, The Amazon Rainforest, The Stone Age, Canada and World War Two. I want to say a massive Thank You to you all for your continued support this year and I wish the children the best of luck as the move into Year 4. Remember 'I can't do iit YET!'Miss Lewis

Stockport Air Raid Shelter

On Tuesday 9th July, we had a fantatsic day and went back in time to Stockport Air Raid Shelters, to experience life as an evacuee during World War Two. We dressed up in our evacuee outfits and were met in Stockport by Mrs Grundy and a warden. Throughout the day, we sang WWII songs, tried on gas masks, explored artefacts and tried on clothing, visited the shelters and much more. In the Air Raid Shelters, we walked around all the different tunnels, and explored the male and female toilets, the first aid room, the nursing area, the kitchen, the prison and the beds.

Sports Week

This week, Year 3 have been taking part in a variety of sporting activities including the daily mile, Zumba, yoga, skipping, rounders and an assault course. We have also been learning and exploring London and the Royal Family as our selected country for the Cricket World Cup is 'England' and it links perfectly to our WWII topic.

Take Me Out Book Special

Yesterday, was Miss Lewis's World Book Day assembly with a Take Me Out twist. Some children from Year 3, 4 and 5 who are passionate about a book took part in the assembly and had one minute to sell their book to the rest of the school. The rest of the school were the audience and had to join in with the catch phrases and then we got chance to discuss with the people around us which book we thought sounded the best. We then voted for our favourite by making love hearts with our hands. Well done to Freya Sibson in Year 4 who’s book Harry Potter won the Broadbent Fold votes.

Author visit Ken Metcalfe

Yesterday, KS2 children had the privilege of meeting and speaking with Author Ken Metcalfe who recently published a new children’s book called 'The Magical of Kernow.' Please click on the link to see the trailer for this fantastic, mysterious book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3XnB9FMCMw. Children who purchased his book got to meet Ken on a 1-1 and had their book signed. The children were very inspired by Ken and are looking forward to doing some creative writing.

Miss Lewis's FAVOURITE CHILDRENS books

MR MEN and LITTLE MISS books are my favourite childrens books. They are short, funny, simple and colourful books that any aged child can enjoy. These books are written by Roger Hargreaves. Did you know? MR TICKLE sold a million copies in the first 3 years of being published! Thats a lot of tickles and laughter! I would love to know if you have read any of the MR MEN or LITTLE MISS books and which one is your favourite. These books can also be bought for as little as 10p each online.

Balancing

This week in Gymnastics we have been creating our own balances and exploring counter balances. Over the next few weeks, we will put these into small routines along with the different ways of travelling and rolling.
