Forest School Tyre Rolling and Scavenger Hunt

Year 1 have been using their observation skills to find lots of different natural resources in a scavenger hunt.  They had a  fun tyre rolling competition, playing in the mud kitchen and making lovely leaf prints using the technique of Hapazome (leaf bashing).

Challenge Me - Burpees

Year 1 showed fantastic determination and teamwork in the latest Challenge Me challenge. They had to do as many burpees as they could in 2 minutes. They encouraged each other to keep going even when they were tired and tp do their best. Well done Year 1!

Fun at Forest School

The second group of Year 1 realy enjoyed their first forest school session.  They played the forest ranger game, learnt about different trees, did some leaf bashing (Hapa zome), bark rubbing and made dinner in the mud kitchen!

Handa's Surprise

Today Year 1 have had a busy morning trying lots of fruit from our Handa's Surprise story. Although we thought the avocado was disgusting, we tried some new fruits that we really liked. We thought of los of excellent adjectives to describe the different fruits too.

Homework Menu Summer 1

Attached is the homework menu for this half term. I cannot wait to see all the fantastic things you do in your home learning. Don't forget to send them in via Seesaw. Who is going to earn a bronze, silver or gold medal this half term?

Hot or Cold?

Our new topic in Summer 1 is 'Hot or Cold?' where we will be learning about hot and cold places around the world. We have lots to look forward to including meeting a South Pole Explorer, trying lots of tropical fruit and a postcard from a lost penguin. For more information about the topic, see the document below.

Plants

We have had lots of fun learning about plants this half term. We planted our own runner beans and they grew really tall! We were so impressed when we could see the roots in the soil and when we measured our plant each week to see if it had grown. We enjoyed exploring the school grounds looking for different types of flowers and spotting evergreen and deciduous trees.
